Nike Files Suit Against Lil Nas' X Shoe Company

Footwear manufacturing company, Nike has accused MSCHF Product Studio, Inc. of trademark infringement and is also suing the art collective behind the Lil Nas X “Satan Shoes”

So far, a legal action has been taken concerning the art work which has triggered so much reaction on social media and the designer’s 666 pairs of modified Nike sneakers made in collaboration with the “Old Town Road” singer.

Interestingly, all the 666 pairs were sold out as at Monday.

As for MSCHF, there hasn’t been any response to repeated requests for comment about the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, Nike (NKE) asked the court to order MSCHF to “permanently stop” fulfilling orders for the “unauthorized” Lil Nas X Satan Shoes in a complaint that it made.

According to CNN, the lawsuit notes that social media users have threatened to boycott Nike over the controversial shoes.

Representatives for the musician, Lil Nas X did not respond to calls or emails requesting comment Monday night. Although, he was named as a party in the lawsuit.

In reaction the development, the sportswear company, in its complaint said,

“MSCHF and its unauthorized Satan Shoes are likely to cause confusion and dilution and create an erroneous association between MSCHF’s products and Nike,”

“In the short time since the announcement of the Satan Shoes, Nike has suffered significant harm to its goodwill, including among consumers who believe that Nike is endorsing satanism.”
