The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have hailed Aston Villa after thumping reigning Champions of Premier League Liverpool 7-2 on Sunday evening.
Since the royal couple are long-standing Villa fans, they retweeted the club’s comment about it being a “night to remember” with an applause emoji to show their support, Evening Standard reports.
A shock win at Villa Park brought champions Liverpool’s perfect start to the Premier League season to a shuddering halt.
More thanks have gone to Ollie Watkins, former Brentford striker and summer signing for a first-half hat-trick.
Dean Smith’s Villa with three wins from three games, are up to second place in the table, level on points with Liverpool – who have played four matches – plus Leicester City and Arsenal.
Interestingly, Prince William was spotted celebrating at Wembley when Aston Villa scored to give themselves hope in the League Cup final in March, before lockdown hit.
