After thirty years, Liverpool football club lifted the English Premier League trophy on Wednesday.
Former Liverpool manager, and reds legend, Sir Kenny Dalglish, who last won the trophy in 1990, handed the trophy to Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson in an empty Anfield stadium.
An interesting ceremony occurred after the champions beat Chelsea 5-3 on Wednesday night, BBC reports.
Liverpool were confirmed as champions on 25 June with seven games to spare, when nearest rivals Manchester City lost at Chelsea, but they had to wait until their final home game of the season to be presented with the trophy.
Since the implementation of coronavirus preventive measures, the usual crowd in the stadium were not there to celebrate with the Premier league champion.
Meanwhile, some set of people took the place of the crowd that were supposed to fill up the stadium.
The premier league champions had their family members present at the ceremony as they were given special permission to attend the trophy presentation.
Liverpool captain, Henderson, who is recovering from a knee injury said, “We’ve been waiting a long time,”
“Walking up there was amazing, the lads deserved the moment and thankfully the families were watching.
“To crown it off like that was really special.”
