Napoli and Barcelona have played a 1-1 draw in their Europa League last-32 first-leg tie on Thursday, at the Nou Camp.
Piotr Zielinski’s 29th minute goal was not good enough to give Napoli a win when Barcelona got a goal from Ferran Torres’s penalty in the 59th minute.
Although, the zeal to win the match at all cost was made evident in the Napoli side that have made their first appearance in this competition in almost 18 years.
The zeal started diminishing when Barcelona was awarded a penalty in the second half by VAR after Adama Traore’s cross hit Juan Jesus’ hand.
Torres displayed class when he took the penalty, sending goalkeeper Alex Meret the wrong way.
Meanwhile, Barcelona had the chance to score more goals through the former Manchester City striker but missed a big chance when the game was goalless, firing over when well placed inside the box.
The closest chance which would have given Barcelona the win was when he sent his shot over the bar.
The second leg for both teams takes place Thursday, 24 February in Italy.
