Barcelona Sign Karim Adeyemi for €29m

Barcelona have continued their summer squad rebuild by completing the signing of German international Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund in a deal reportedly worth €29 million.

This move is part of Hansi Flick’s plans to build a faster and more dynamic attacking unit.

The 24-year-old winger has penned a long-term contract that will keep him at the Catalan club until 2031. Although Barcelona did not reveal the transfer fee, reports indicate the agreement includes an initial payment of €22 million, with a further €7 million tied to performance-related add-ons. Dortmund are also understood to have secured a sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

Adeyemi joins the Spanish champions after an impressive spell at Borussia Dortmund, where he registered 36 goals in 146 appearances across all competitions following his transfer from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. Known for his explosive pace, intelligent movement and versatility across the forward line, the German is expected to inject fresh energy into Barcelona’s attack.

The move also marks a reunion between Adeyemi and Flick, who handed the forward his first senior Germany call-up. Speaking after sealing the transfer, Adeyemi described joining Barcelona as a dream come true and said Flick’s ambitious project played a major role in convincing him to make the switch to Camp Nou.

His arrival follows the signing of Anthony Gordon, making Adeyemi Barcelona’s second major attacking recruit of the transfer window as the club reshapes its frontline following the departure of long-serving striker Robert Lewandowski and the conclusion of Marcus Rashford’s loan spell.

Barcelona believe Adeyemi’s pace, relentless pressing and ability to operate in multiple attacking positions perfectly complement Flick’s high-tempo football philosophy. The club will be hoping the German star plays a key role as they bid to defend their La Liga crown and challenge for UEFA Champions League and domestic cup honours in the upcoming season.
