The final outcome of the winner of the US Presidential election is currently hanging on a razor’s edge.
Interestingly, the two major Presidential candidates are Donald Trump and Joe Biden each claim to be ahead.
Moreover, both sides have ramped up for legal action in an election that had an overall turnout in Tuesday, projected to be the highest in 120 years at 66.9%, BBC reports.
So far, the Trump campaign is challenging vote counts in the key states of Wisconsin, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
While results are yet to emerge in Pennsylvania, Mr Biden has been projected to have won Michigan and US media forecast he took Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, it has been projected that, winning all three of these Rust Belt states would hand Mr Biden victory.
The confidence of who emerges as the next US President is reflecting more in Democratic candidate Mr Biden, who has stopped short of declaring he had won, a source said.
Mr Biden had the support of 70.5 million voters, the most won by any presidential candidate ever. Mr Trump has pulled in 67.2 million votes, four million more than he gained in 2016.
According to the Covid Tracking Project, the bitter election race was dominated by the coronavirus pandemic, which hit a new record high of 103,000 daily cases in the US on Wednesday.
