President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine on Sunday evening made compelling pre-taped message to the 64th Grammy Awards held in Las Vegas.
While speaking to notable stars like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and others at the popular show, the former actor and comedian, made reference to the ongoing war with Russia.
Meanwhile, before the show was held, it was announced that the courageous politician will be recognised during the show.
“Our musicians wear body armour instead of tuxedos,”
“They sing to the wounded in hospitals, even to those who can’t hear them. But the music will break through.”
He urged musicians to “fill the silence” left by Russian bombs “with your music”.
“Support us in any way you can, but not with your silence,” he continued. “Fill the silence with music,” he said.
The video message was played ahead of a performance by John Legend of a new song, called Free.
Joined by the US star on-stage were Ukrainian musicians Mika Newton and Suzanna Iglidan, while a poem was read by their compatriot Lyuba Yakimchuk, who recently fled the country.
