Manchester City on Sunday thrashed Chelsea 4-0 in the FA Cup third round at the Etihad Stadium.
The victory for City started in the first half with goals from Mahrez, Julian Alvarez – from the penalty spot – and Phil Foden.
Interestingly, the zeal to score more goals was replicated by Mahrez, who increased the goals tally to four for City with the second penalty.
Meanwhile, the win for City was the second over the out-of-form Londoners in the space of four days and piled on the frustration for their manager Graham Potter.
The loss for Chelsea was a disappointment to its supporters who booed their side and were also heard chanting the names of former owner Roman Abramovich and ex-manager Thomas Tuchel. To make matters worse, it was also a run of just one win in seven in all competitions for the Blues.
Ahead of kick off, the visiting players warmed up in No. 9 shirts in tribute to the late great Gianluca Vialli, but could not put up a performance to match the gesture.
