Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni said Lionel Messi could play in the 2026 World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Scaloni made this statement following the PSG’s star submission on the next world cup.
In response to Messi’s statement, the 44-year-old former player says he will ‘save him a spot’ after the PSG star said he WON’T quit international soccer just yet.
After waiting for a long time, Messi who has played 172 times for Argentina and has scored 98 goals following his double-strike against France, finally became a World Cup winner on Sunday during an all-time epic final.
The 35-year-old scored twice but his team needed penalties to defeat France in the global competition.
In reaction to his glorious world cup triumph, Messi said: ‘No, I’m not gonna retire from the national team. I want to keep playing as World Cup champions with Argentina shirt.’
Messi scored his first from the penalty spot to give Argentina a 1-0 lead. Angel di Maria made it 2-0 in the first half and Argentina looked set for a smooth victory when he gave a sweeping passing move with a clinical finish.
France striker, Kylian Mbappe proved that it was not yet over about ten mins to go, when transformed the game with two goals in two minutes, scoring one from the penalty spot.
