Trump Praises Buhari For Suspending Twitter

The Nigerian government has been given accolades by former US President, Donald Trump for banning micro blogging company, Twitter in the country.

Mr. Trump’s statement came after President Muhammadu Buhari’s post was deleted for breaching the rules of the company.

Mr Trump, who urged other countries to ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing “free and open speech” in a statement said, “Who are they to dictate good and evil, if they themselves are evil?”

Coincidentally, Mr Trump was banned from both platforms after the US Capitol riot in January.

It was also recorded that his posts before and after the raid were alleged to have encouraged violence.

The only difference between the two cases are: While Twitter made its ban permanent, Facebook announced that its suspension, including the former president’s Instagram account, would last at least two years.

Mr Trump in a statement released on Tuesday, said, “Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their president,”

He also revealed that he suggested that he should have banned Facebook while he was in office, but said the company’s boss Mark Zuckerberg “kept calling me and coming to the White House for dinner telling me how great I was”.

Mr Trump also backed unnamed rival social media platforms, saying they “will emerge and take hold”.

Meanwhile, Mr.Trump has gone ahead to launch his website last month to get his word out but it has been closed because of poor traffic.
