Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo and his family have received condolence messages from the football world, following the announcement of his baby son’s death on Monday.
Prior to the messages sent to the Portugal star, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had announced in October he and partner Georgina Rodriguez were expecting twins. In December, they announced they were expecting a boy and a girl.
The English Premier League club wrote in its condolence message, saying: “Your pain is our pain. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time, Cristiano.”
On the list of those that consoled the former Real Madrid player was Red Devils star, Marcus Rashford who tweeted on Monday: “Thoughts are with you and Georgina brother. I’m so sorry.”
Brazilian women’s star Marta wrote to Ronaldo on Instagram, saying: “Lots of strength to you, your partner and all your family.”
Brazil football legend, and three-time World Cup winner Pele said: “My friend, I send you my prayers and my condolences at this very difficult time. May God comfort your hearts and enlighten every step of the way.”
Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid teammate, James Rodriguez said: “Strength for you and your family.”
Former professional footballer and current television pundit Gary Lineker tweeted to Ronaldo: “Terribly sad news. Sincere condolences to you and your family.”
Manchester City, were not left out as they tweeted: “Everyone at Manchester City sends our deepest condolences to you and Georgina.”
Liverpool, Leeds, and other football clubs also posted to social media in support of Ronaldo.
While Liverpool wrote on Twitter: “All of us here at Liverpool FC send our deepest condolences to you, Georgina and the family.”
North London club, Arsenal said: “Everyone at Arsenal sends our deepest condolences to you, Georgina and the whole family. We will have you in our thoughts.”
While, Ronaldo’s first professional club, Sporting, wrote: “Lots of strength, Cristiano. The Sportinguista family is with you.”
