Utaka Named Assistant Coach Of Montpellier

Former Super Eagles player John Utaka has been named as assistant coach of Feminine side of French club, Montpellier.

This development occurred after the women side of the club announced the termination of the team manager Federic Mendy on a mutual consent.

Before emerging as the assistant coach of the club, the winger joined French club, RC Lens in 2002 and left for Rennes in 2005.

Utaka commenced his professional career in 1998 with Egyptian side Arab Contractors and subsequently Ismaily.

The talented player went ahead to spend one season with Al-Sadd of Qatar in 2001 after signing a record transfer fee of $1 million.

He also played a vital role to helped the club get to the league title in 2012 against a more established Paris St German.

The former Super Eagles Winger was announced alongside former France international Bapstite Merle who was announced as the interim manager of the team until the end of the season.

Utaka played 49 matches and scored 6 goals for Nigeria, during his active playing days for Nigeria.
