An analyst and NBA reporter, Sekou Smith has died from Covid-19.
Smith, who was 48 years-0ld before his death, worked for NBA as a reporter for more than two decades and wrote for NBA.com.
In reaction to his demise, Turner Sports, which broadcasts and operates NBA TV and NBA.com reacted, in a statement: “We are all heartbroken over Sekou’s tragic passing,”
“His commitment to journalism and the basketball community was immense and we will miss his warm, engaging personality.”
On his work history in the industry, Smith covered the NBA for more than 20 years, including 11 years with Turner Sports, which, like CNN, is owned by WarnerMedia.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver also made comments. In a statement, he said, “The NBA mourns the passing of Sekou Smith, a beloved member of the NBA family. Sekou was one of the most affable and dedicated reporters in the NBA and a terrific friend to so many across the league.”
