Osun Election: Counting In Progress As Oyetola, Adeleke Compete

The governorship election in Osun State is ongoing with counting of votes in progress.

So far, reliable sources have disclosed that two major contenders and their parties, out of the15 political parties that participated in the election are slugging it out.

According to Official ward results, the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party who have the candidate of APC, Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the candidate of the PDP, Ademola Adeleke, as top contenders are in a tight race.

Interestingly, this election has created an opportunity for both candidates to meet for the second time as Oyetola and Adeleke contested for the Osun governorship seat in 2018, which Oyetola won after a rerun.

Results also reflected that after the rerun election which took place in seven units, Oyetola won seven, while Adeleke won one.

Oyetola polled 255,505 votes while the PDP candidate scored a total of 255,023 votes, at the end of the rerun.

Although Adeleke had led Oyetola with 353 votes at the end of the first round of ballots, but after the rerun, Oyetola won with 482 votes.

Some of the ward results are from Osogbo, Boripe, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Irewole, Ede, Olorunda, and Ife.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had also revealed that the election would take place in 332 registration areas across the 30 local government areas of the state.

So far, both candidates have individually expressed confidence to win the election.
