Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Death Toll In Chernihiv Increases

Regional authorities have confirmed the death of forty-seven people in Russian air strikes on a residential district of the city of Chernihiv on Thursday.

According to the local emergency services, rescue work had to be suspended on Thursday due to heavy shelling.

The local authorities also disclosed that a total of 148 people, mostly civilians, have died since the beginning of rancour in the region.

The city of 300,000 people is in the north of the country, close to the borders with Russia and Belarus.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities announced earlier on Friday that Russian forces have seized Zaporizhzhia, the largest nuclear plant in Europe.

The attack occurred hours after a fire broke out at the plant as a result a Russian attack.
