Biden Meets Pope Francis After Starting Europe Tour

President Joe Biden has met with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Friday, after starting his tour of Europe and embarking on his second major foreign trip.

This development has occurred in view of the first in-person G20 summit since the pandemic, where leaders from the world’s 20 leading economies are expected to also meet in Rome.

Part of his trip will also prompt him to be in France to also meet Emmanuel Macron, as the meeting with him will be their first face-to-face since a US deal to provide Australia with nuclear-powered submarines.

On his arrival in Rome, President Biden was greeted by the Regent of the papal household, who is in charge of the papal apartments, after stepping out of his car.

While discussions on climate change continues globally, the meeting is coming ahead of  the crucial COP26 climate talks in Scotland.
