Uduak Abasi Sentenced To Death For Murdering Job Seeker

Convicted suspect, Uduak-Abasi Akpan has been sentenced to death by hanging on Thursday, for killing Iniubong Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, on April 2021.

Justice Bassey Nkanang of the Akwa Ibom State High Court sentenced Akpan for murdering Umoren who was in search of a job while awaiting mobilisation for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

Sources disclosed that Umoren was raped, murdered and buried in a shallow grave dug by Akpan, in April 2021.

Going memory lane on the death of Umoren, Akpan lured the 26-years- old lady to his family residence at Nung Ikono Obio village in Uruan local government area with a job offer where he had allegedly raped, murdered, and buried her in a shallow grave within the premises.

The Police team got to know about the inhumane act and were taken there by guided by the prime suspect to exume the body from the shallow grave.

A postmortem was later carried out by the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH).

On May 14, 2021, Umoren was interred in her hometown at Nung Ita Ikot Essien of Oruk Anam local government area of Akwa Ibom State.
